HELIX Frontman Is Ready To Kick Ass At SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL

June 7, 2005

HELIX frontman Brian Vollmer recently spoke to the The London Free Press about the group's appearance at this weekend's Sweden Rock Festival, a three-day sonic barrage of some of the world's hardest and most renowned metal bands.

Speaking of the upcoming Swedish gig, Vollmer expressed total confidence in the band's ability to rock just as hard as the big-name headliners such as MÖTLEY CRÜE, SAMMY HAGAR and MEGADETH.

"We've played with lots of these bands before," he said, although he conceded the Sweden Rock Festival will mark the band's first festival show in Europe. Still, Vollmer is quick to point out HELIX has played "bigger festivals than this . . . just not in Europe."

"We've been trying to get on the (Sweden Rock) Festival for years," he explained. This year, the band got its break as a hardcore HELIX fan happened to be involved with the festival's promoter and was therefore able to drop the band's name.

As for new guitarists Rainer Wiechmann and Jim Lawson, who joined HELIX just last year, how will such a major performance work out?

"I think it'll be all right," Vollmer said. "We played last summer with ALICE COOPER. . . they're relatively used to it. I think they can handle it."
